Q: When does pre-season start for 2019?
A: Our Premier 1 men's team began work in January. Their season officially starts on the weekend of 30 March 2019. The remainder of the senior turf teams will hold grading days in late Feb/early March, prior to the commencement of fixtures on 14 April. Women's pre-season will commence at Lilac Hill on Monday 11th February at 6:00pm. Timing will be revised following the completion of several local night hockey comps. Please contact the club secretary on ogmhc@ogmhc.com.au for more details.
Q: Is OGMHC running a Hook
in 2 Hockey program this year?
A: Yes! We have
several enthusiastic parents sharing the task of coordinating this program in 2019. Hook in 2 Hockey runs throughout terms 2 and 3 at Lilac Hill (9:30am start). We have heaps of enthusiastic junior players
from our high school grades who are willing and able to assist with the
development of this group of five to ten year olds who are not yet old enough
for the formalised hockey competition, but who want to learn the basics of the
game in a safe, fun environment.
Q: Do I have to pay a
casual game fee if I fill in for a senior team?
A: The casual game
fee is $40 per player. Our registered
senior players pay a large sum to be a regular part of the team and the
club. Yes, we sometimes need casual
players to help out teams when they are short, but that does not mean our
regulars are expected to solely fund the team and club costs. It’s like going
to the gym on a casual basis v. joining for six months! It costs more for that
flexibility, and commitment is rewarded with a lower fee per session. It is
only fair that the club expenses are shared amongst all players.
Q: Where and when is
training? Why does it sometimes change?
A: Check out
the club website for weekly training updates. Turf sessions may vary to share
the choice sessions between grades.
Grass teams will do most of their training at Lilac Hill. Turf grades will train at Guildford Grammar
turf.
Q: Does OGMHC hold social
events?
A: Yes! OGs
holds regular social events throughout the year and tries to spread them out
over the season so people can be involved in a range of activities. The club prides itself on being inclusive and
family friendly. We encourage all players to attend our social events and participate
in fundraisers to keep fees manageable.
