Our Juniors

Juniors is a vibrant part of our growing family based club with a focus on building friendships and enjoying our sport. We welcome ALL from 4-18 years of age across a variety of competitions.

Registration

Please register Online to train and be insured with Hockey Australia.

The Hockey WA “Smarter than Smoking Junior Competition” is divided into the following age groups:

J 11/12 (for all children in Year 11 and 12 or below)
J 9/10 (for all children in Year 9 and 10 or below)
J 7/8 (for all children in Year 7 and 8 or below)
J 5/6 (for all children in Year 5 and 6 or below)

J 3/4 (for all children in Years 3 and 4) - separate competition held at YMCC - training at CV and Lilac Hill
Hookin2Hockey (Kindy to Year 2) - 12 week program
Charles Veryard Term 2 Thursdays 4:30 - 5.30pm - starts May 2nd
Lilac Hill starts 20th April - Saturday 9-10am (not school hols or long weekends)

2024 Registration Fees

Modernians strive to keep its fees as low as possible. A small increase is due to inflation in fees this year. Player insurance levy, is a payment that automatically is paid directly to HA at Registration.

The Junior Committee has secured two regular bookings at the turf at Warwick Hockey Centre (Whitfords Hockey Club). This will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. Turf training sessions will be rotated through different age groups, and all grades will receive more turf training time than in previous years. Turf training costs money, which has been reflected in the Registration fees.. the benefit of more turf training time will greatly benefit the development of our players and club.

The umpire levy we introduced a few years ago, has been incorporated into this years fees again. All junior teams will benefit from not having to worry about finding umpires and finding money to pay umpires every game.

If you have any difficulty in paying the fees, please do not hesitate to contact our Treasurer to come up with a payment plan

Please come prepared with a mouthguard, stick, shin pads, water bottle. All coaches will be recognisable, wearing a Mods shirt with COACH on the back.

Mondays 6.30 to 7.30pm - 11/12s

Wednesdays 5pm-6pm - 7/8's

Teams

J5/6-J11/12 competitions are all run by HockeyWA. The competition involves playing other clubs all over the Perth metro area.
Games are run on a full size pitch 11 aside including a goalkeeper.

J/3/4 Competition is run by YMCC at Perry Lakes, traditionally begins Term 2.

Training: suggested Thursdays 5.30-6.30pm @ CV. (incl. dynamic warm-up)

Fees: This year you have the option of buying the pack separately to the membership.

Kindy-J3/4 Come & Try

Is essentially try before you buy.
A 4-week session to see if your child enjoys the sport before committing.
The cost covers insurance

This is social hockey for primary school aged children who may not know yet how wonderful hockey is.. or for children that may not be able to play Saturday games.
